Learn more about Québec’s unique fiddling tradition with Montreal fiddler Alexis Chartrand. Focusing on traditional melodies from various Québécois folk idioms such as step-dancing tunes or Quadrille melodies, this class will highlight stylistic ideas and the technical tools to achieve them. Focusing on phrasing, bowings and ornamentation, the workshop will also explore the historical context of the repertoire and its relationship with traditional dance.
